Permanent offices for AEM Global Centre announced

In April 2008 the IB Board adopted a capacity and capability-building strategy that would enable the organization to effectively manage the continued double-digit growth in IB World Schools and students predicted by the year 2020. A key part of that infrastructure goal was the creation of three global centres in the most appropriate international locations.

Following an extensive search, the IB Board has agreed for management to sign a lease for permanent offices in the centre of The Hague to house the Africa, Europe, Middle East (AEM) Global Centre. The Churchillplein building, situated at 77 Eisenhower Avenue, The Hague, will be the second of the permanent global centres offices to open, following the opening of our first one in Bethesda, Maryland, USA in August 2010.

Each global centre will house a range of critical functions and regional roles along with a leadership role. For the AEM Global Centre this will be the academic division. Other functions will include the AEM regional office, global Communications, global Human Resources, global Strategy and Planning, global Language Services and the global Project Management Office.

Following a total internal refurbishment and fit-out of the office space, the new global centre is expected to become fully open and operational from August 2011.
