Systems Engineer Ref 701s

This position within the infrastructure team will ensure the operandi effectiveness of the IT infrastructure in supporting the organization globally.

The post holder will ensure the availability of the infrastructure services and scalable to meet the future organization requirements.  This will require the post holder to work in close consultation with external suppliers and consultanst to ensure plans are formulated prior to implementing any new equipment.

The System Engineer works with other members of IT to keep abreast of future hardware and software requirements and to feed estimates into project plans, while ensuring compatibility to current applications as well as the readiness of infrastructure backbone to support the new application. This will include providing cost and effect feedback to facilitate the planning of new developments.

The post holder must be a specialist in the systems domain who is able to work effectively with minimum supervision, and with people from a wide variety of cultures.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT discipline, with relevant professional certification.
  • Proven high level problem solving skills, working with multiple systems and multiple problems under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining high-availability and highly secured servers and applications, centralised/distributed systems and data centres.
  • In-depth knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Microsoft and Novell operating systems; system designs; other server based functionalities and applications, such as, proxy, DNS, DHCP, MS Exchange, IIS, etc..
  • Hands on experience in configuring and deploying VMWare, Citrix, SharePoint, identity management systems, backup applications, and software intensive systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Effective pro-active and pre-emptive support through system monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning.

The post is based in Singapore.
