Call for Expressions of Interest in Participating in the Work of the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council in a Position Reserved for Heads of IB Schools
The IB Asia Pacific Regional Council has been established to strengthen the work of the Regional Office by supporting the Regional Director in guiding and expanding regional efforts to implement the mission of the IB. Each of the councils in the three regions assists the Regional Directors who work with the IB through the Schools Division.
The work of the Council is underpinned by a commitment to the IB principles and policies. The Council strengthens the capacity of the Regional Office through the sharing of relevant perspectives, knowledge and other resources related to different areas and constituencies in the region. The promotion of access to an IB education and an increase in the acceptance of the IB Diploma at universities in the region are priority areas for consideration. A copy of the Terms of Reference for the Council is included with this Call for Expressions of Interest.
The Council meets twice yearly in the particular regional centre, the IB Asia Pacific being housed in Singapore. The Office supports attendance at these meetings financially. Responsibilities of members are outlined in the attached document.
The following Heads of Schools will finish their first term on the Regional Council at the end of 2011.
Ms. Anuradha Monga (India)
Mr Richard Henry (Indonesia)
The following Heads of Schools will continue as members of the Regional Council:
Ms. Anne Fowles (China)
Mr James Macdonald (Japan)
Mr Julian Whitely (Singapore)
Mr Richard Tangye (Bangladesh)
Nominations are called to fill the vacancies for two Heads of an IB school to serve on the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council. The tenure of the initial appointment is three years and members are eligible for re-election for a further and final three-year term.
In accordance with the Terms of Reference for IB Regional Councils, the current members of the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council have the responsibility to elect the new members of the Regional Council.
Heads of IB schools who are interested in serving the IB in a regional capacity through membership of the Regional Council are invited to submit an “Expression of Interest” form. The decisions will be made after consideration of the skills, experience and perspectives, detailed in the form, which the individual will bring to the work of the Council. Expressions of Interest that do not include this detail will not be considered for membership. Please also attach a Curriculum Vitae with the “Expression of Interest” form.
