IB World - May 2007

Ethics in education

IB World - May 2007Ethics in international education is a hot topic and this issue’s theme has certainly captured the attention of our readers. In an exclusive interview, we spoke to Mary Warnock, a world-renowned ethical philosopher and writer on ethics in education. She gives us her views and explains why a school’s ethos is instrumental in teaching children moral right from wrong.

You’ll also find a great selection of thought-provoking articles showing how different IB World Schools are teaching students within an ethical framework. The cultural ethos of the IB is already well established to enable students to develop their own code of moral values: to see this in action, read the CAS Report in this issue, the amazing story of one former IB student who has dedicated his life to helping others.

It’s inspiring stuff!

The changing face of the IB

It’s time to dispel some of the myths surrounding IB. How do you feel IB has changed – for the better or for the worse? What outdated opinions of IB need redressing – for example, issues of access, special needs provision, the IB as a globally recognized qualification…
