ACER IB DP Perceptions Study & IB DP Recognition
ACER has recently presented IB Asia Pacific with the final report of the ‘Perceptions of the IB Diploma Programme in Australasian Tertiary Institutions’ study completed in late 2006 and early 2007. IB Asia Pacific will soon provide access to the report, or a summary of it in www.ibo.org/ibap. There was some very positive feedback about the manner in which DP Graduates are prepared for Tertiary Study. As a result of the feedback in the study, the Sydney office has decided to commence production of a regular Tertiary newsletter to assist in further developing understanding about the Diploma Programme amongst key Australasian University personnel.
IB has also developed a new publication ‘IB Diploma Programme: a guide for universities and colleges’. This publication which explains key aspects of the Diploma Programme, how it is implemented and assessed, what are the requirements for the Award, advice for universities about IB graduate recruitment and recognition policies, also provides a summary of some research that exists to differentiate IB students. There are also a number of testimonials from Tertiary staff about the IB.
IB Asia Pacific has engaged ACER to carry out a comparative assessment of the IB Diploma and State Senior Secondary curricula in Australia. This will involve an analysis of the content, assessment model, standards and work samples for four key subjects. The work will be completed before the end of 2007.

Workshops
The latest IBAP regional workshops were held in the heart of Sydney City at Cliftons Training Centre on 27 - 29 April and were a great success.
We are very grateful for the time and effort the workshops leaders put into running such high quality professional development seminars, and also for the efficiency and hospitality of the Cliftons staff. Our thanks also to Rosalyn, Nigel Forbes-Harper from the Regional office and to the Cardiff staff.
